Daptiv recently announced a new agile PPM solution that has the ability to integrate real-time project data from ‘best-of-breed’ agile development tools, beginning with Rally Software, the first in a series of agile development tools that will be incorporated into Daptiv PPM.

Daptiv now enables customers using both traditional and agile methodologies to create a “single source of truth” for executive reporting and decision-making, without upsetting the work practices of an agile team.

Project management leaders are troubled by redefining their roles to focus less on planning and controlling and to tune in more to the environment that allows agile projects to succeed, even with the widespread adoption of agile practices.

Even with the willingness to adopt agile, trying to integrate agile projects into a PPM framework is often plagued with difficulty and PMOs are facing conflicting methodologies, metrics and controls.

Unlike more rigid PPM tools, Daptiv solves these challenges with a solution that incorporates many different methodologies used in an organization to provide the predictability and accountability that executive stakeholders need to run their business.

A report from Forrester Research Inc., “Agile Development: Mainstream Adoption Has Changed Agility” put out in January 2010, stated that the clearest sign of the mainstreaming of Agile is the abandonment of orthodoxy.

The report says that teams are puzzling out the mix of methodologies and combining them to fit within their organizational realities, blending Agile and non-Agile techniques and practices to create a hybrid methodology that fits larger organizations.

Daptiv customers can build project portfolios that leverage traditional waterfall and agile-based methods based on the project needs by allowing PMOs to work with a mix of project types and development methodologies.

Daptiv’s integration with Rally Software allows a single reporting framework that provides transparency into agile project execution and ensures consistency in project reporting.
